Celtic Chrono 2012 – Belfast

Good luck to all the Garda/Richies Bikestore/Ethos CC’s female members, who are taking part in the UCI 1.2 Celtic Chrono, which takes place on Sunday the 13th May 2012 from the grounds of Stormont, Belfast City.

The Garda Ladies will compete as follows:

Caroline Ryan – Will ride in the Garda/Richies Bikestore/Ethos CC’s Irish National Time Trial Champions Jersey. Caroline is hoping her performance in this event will bring her closer to qualification for the London Olympics.

Sandra Fitzgerald – Will ride pilot on a tandem with her visually impaired ‘stoker’ Katie George. Sandra & Katie have already qualified for the London Paralymics and will use this event as preparation for July in london.

Eve McCrystal – Will compete on the Leinster Team. Eve is showing immense talent since her recent transfer from Triathlon & Ironman events.

Sheila Clavin – Will compete on the Munster Team. Sheila is another rider who has recently concentrated on road racing, after many years of competing in triathlons.

Not alone was the venue, route, refreshments and marshalling to highest standards, but the sun shone all day!!!

Welcome Home to Caroline Ryan

Caroline with Richie McNamara from Richies Bikestore in Swords. Caroline's World Championship bike was kindly sponsored by Richie.

A large crowd of family, friends & colleagues turned out at Terminal 2, Dublin Airport this afternoon to welcome home Garda/Richies Bikestore/Ethos Cycling Club member Caroline Ryan, who returned from the World Track Cycling Championships in Melbourne with a Bronze medal in the Points Race.

Following a couple of days rest, Caroline will now concentrate on qualifying for the London Olympics in the Road Race or Road Time Trial. Accompanying Caroline on her arrival was her coach Brian Nugent, who has been instrumental in her international success.

Congratulations to Caroline from all her friends & colleagues in the Garda/Richies Bikestore/Ethos Cycling Club. We all look forward to cheering you on in London in August.

Stubborn Mule Sportive 2012

World Track Medal for Caroline Ryan

Congratulations to Garda CC/Richies/Ethos rider Caroline Ryan on winning ‘Bronze’ in the Points Race at the World Track Cycling Championships in Melbourne, Australia earlier today. This is the FIRST ever World Track Cycling medal won by an Irish cyclist, which makes the win even sweeter.

A WORLD CLASS performance Caroline. Congratulations from all your colleagues in Garda CC.

Caroline races again on Sunday in the Individual Pursuit. Make sure you tune in!!!

Easter Weekend Racing

Huge numbers of Garda CC riders in action over the upcoming Easter Holiday weekend.

On Good Friday, Garda CC’s Enda Connolly starts into the 4 Day International Ras Mumhan in Kerry. The total distance covered in this 4 day event is 498km, with 23 categorized climbs. Over 170 Riders from Ireland, England, Isle of Man, Holland, France, & Italy, will face the starter to compete for the € 6,000 prize fund for this prestigious race, which attracts Ireland’s elite riders.

Garda CC Team - Gorey 2011

On Easter Saturday, 8 Garda CC riders line out for the An Post Gorey International 3 Day Cycle Race. This event takes place over 3 days of the Easter weekend. This is the biggest ever Garda team to compete in the Gorey 3 Day.

World Track Cycling Championships 2012 – Caroline Ryan

Garda CC’s Caroline Ryan will be in action in the World Track Cycling Championships in Melbourne, Australia over the coming days.

Daily coverage is available via British Eurosport & BBC.

The following times are approximate:

Thursday 5th April – Points Race – 22.30hrs Australian time, or 12.30hrs Irish time.

Caroline will ride this event on a beautiful red Cervelo, kindly sponsored by Richies Bikestore, Swords Village.

Sunday 8th April – 3KM Individual Pursuit – 15.00 Australian time or 05.00 Irish-time.

Ras Naomh Finian – Clonard – 10th March 2012

Congratulations to Garda CC/Richies/Ethos rider Enda Connolly for his excellent 2nd place in the A1/A2 Ras Naomh Finian, held in Clonard on the 10th March 2012.

Enda was very narrowly beaten on the line by Stephen Halpin, a professional cyclist riding on the UK pro outfit Metaltek-SCOTT. Stephen is a past member of Swords CC and rode for a period in 2011 with the Sean Kelly An Post team!!

Well done to Enda and all the other Garda CC/Richies/Ethos who also took part in this excellent event, which attracted over 300 riders.

Paracycling World Cup 2012 – Los Angeles

Congratulations to Garda CC rider Sandra Fitzgerald on her excellent results in 2012 Paracycling Track World Championships held last week at the Home Depot Velodrome in Carson, Los Angeles.

Irish tandem newcomers Katie-George Dunlevy and Pilot Sandra Fitzgerald showed that they will be future contenders by setting a PB time of 3:48.767 to give them an excellent 7th place finish in the 3km Pursuit qualifiers.

Garda CC Leisure Cycle – 19th February 2012

Garda CC will host a Leisure cycle on the 19th of February 2012 at 10am from Mahahide, Co. Dublin.

Meet at the Car Park opposite Oscar Taylor’s Hotel on the Coast Road in Malahide

Beginners group will cover 30k
Experienced group will cover 80k
