Irish National Cyclo Cross Championships 2012

Garda/Richies/Ethos Cycling Club member Allen Slevin is taking part in the Irish National Cyclo Cross Championships tomorrow, Saturday the 7th January 2012, at Saint Annes Park, Raheny, Dublin 5. Race starts at 1pm.

Please come out and support Allen in what is guaranteed to me a mucky, horrible & extremely painful race (sorry Allen, but you’re already registered).

Make sure to wear your Garda/Richies/Ethos gear and fly the Club colours.

Christmas Greetings

2011 was a great year for Garda CC, with membership reaching almost 100, for the first time in the history of the Club

2012 looks like being an even better year, with great events planned by the incoming committee.

With Garda CC member Caroline Ryan wearing the National Champions Time Trial Jersey, Garda CC member Sandra Fitzgerald defending her National League Winners title, the very distinct possibility that two (2) Garda CC members will compete in the London Olympics (Caroline Ryan) & London Paralympics (Sandra Fitzgerald) and a Garda CC team competing in the European Police Cycling Championships in Brittany, France, 2012 looks like being a very busy year!!!

Cycling Ireland Licences

Cycling Ireland (CI) Racing & Leisure licences are now available via www.cyclingireland.ie for the 2012 season.

All Club members are strongly advised to take out a CI licence to cover them for insurance in respect of accidents, etc and to avail of the further membership benefits of being a CI member.

Licence applications will only be processed via the CI website, so log in now to register for a new licence, or renew if already registered in 2010.

Licence applications will only be ‘verified’ by the Club Secretary if you have paid your 2012 Club membership fee.

Santa Cycle – 2011

The inaugural Garda CC ‘Santa Cycle’ takes place on Tuesday the 27th December 2011 at 10am from Westmanstown Sports Centre, Clonsilla, Dublin 15.

The event will include a short cycle of 1 to 1 1/2 hours, followed by tea, coffee, mince pies, etc!!

Prizes for most novel outfit and bike on the day!!! Make the effort to be different, if only for one day!!!

All welcome, so drag along your friends & family!! Showers & parking available at Westmanstown!!

2011 Garda Cycling Championship – Results

44 riders turned out in Batterstown on Tuesday afternoon for the Coiste Siamsa & Coiste Roinne (DMR) Cycling Championships, which was run as an individual Time Trial over a 16km (10 mile) route on the Trim Road.

The following are the main results of both events:

Coiste Siamsa Championships (Garda National Cycling Championships)

Men’s Event

1. Thomas LAVERY, Callan, 22′ 59.86″

2. Denis McCARTHY, Gorey, 23′ 15.54″

3. Eunan MALONE, Harcourt Square, 23′ 26.19″

Ladies Event

1. Sandra FITZGERALD, Irishtown, 24′ 15.28″

Coiste Roinne Championships (Dublin Metropolitan Region Cycling Championships)

Men’s Event

1. Eunan MALONE, Harcourt Square, 23′ 26.19″

2. Darren HUGHES, Kilmainham, 23′ 37.48″

3. Allen SLEVIN, Technical Bureau, 23′ 52.81″

Ladies Event

1. Sandra FITZGERALD, Irishtown, 24′ 15.28″

2012 Garda Cycling Championships

Less than 24 hrs to go!!!!!!!

Sign on between 2pm & 2.45pm at Caffrey’s Public house, Batterstown, Co. Meath.

First rider off at 3pm.

NOTE: Start line is between the Black Bull and Batterstown, on the Trim Road. This is approx 1 1/2 miles from sign on. Just perfect for your ‘warm up’ !!! Full details provided at sign on!!!
